Cambodia with the huge temple town Angkor has been on top of my bucket list for a long time. Unfortunately we only had a very short stopover in Siem Reap before we went on to Vietnam, but there was enough time to have a look at the beautiful temples.
We decided to buy a day pass for about 50€. Since we had already
thought about which temples we wanted to see in advance, we had our own plan
how the tour should look like. Since the temple complex is really huge, the
best way to get from temple to temple is with a TukTuk. We had our own driver,
who drove us for about 20€ the whole day to the temples we wanted. It is also
best to do the tour upside down in order to avoid the tourists. Thus one has
quite early in the morning some temples still completely for itself and is
finished at noon then already when the tourist masses are on the way in the
Here is my tip for your tour:
Ta Prohm – Ta Som – Neak Pean – Preah Khan – North Gate – Bayon
– East Gate – Angkor Thom – Angkor Wat
So in the morning you’ll have the coolest spots like Ta Prohm
and Ta Som for you and with a bit of luck you can watch the sunset at Angkor
Wat in the afternoon/evening.
TEMPLATION SIEM REAP
A great place to spend the night near Angkor Wats is the Templation Siem Reap. We were welcomed super nice here, had our own villa with pool and a huge living and sleeping area. What is special here is that you get breakfast in the pool as a floating breakfast.
